Did you know that the women in Bangladesh who make clothes for big brands can be paid as little as 62 cents an hour?
This is called a ‘poverty wage’, and it means that women like Anju (above) can’t even afford to provide their families with the very basics — enough food for the month or a safe home to live in — no matter how long and hard they work.
Big, powerful brands like Bonds and Big W make big money, while Anju only makes a tiny 62 cents an hour — at times even less.
Will you chip in now to help women like Anju?
Your generous donation will help us work with women on the ground in Bangladesh.
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and you will be immediately emailed a tax donation receipt. Your donation will be used in support of Oxfam’s efforts around the world. This story is one of the many ways we work with poor communities to improve their lives.
