Get involved in National Close the Gap Day

Much progress has been made in the campaign to close the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, but more still needs to be done.

By holding your own event on National Close the Gap Day, Thursday, 25 March, you can raise awareness in the community of this urgent issue. Get your friends and family together; find out more and register your National Close the Gap Day event.

“Holding a National Close the Gap Day event was great. After watching the DVD everyone was buzzing with comments and questions. It was a great [way to show] support…and develop greater awareness of the issue.”
– National Close the Gap Day event participant (2009).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People still die 10-17 years younger than other Australians.

Ensure our government gets it right; show your support to close the gap within a generation.
