Typhoon Haiyan

Dr Helen Szoke, Oxfam Australia Chief Executive, will share her first-hand account of time spent in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan.

Typhoon Haiyan hit the coastal communities of The Philippines more than six months ago. More than 6,190 people lost their lives, and almost 4.1 million people were forced from their homes. Like most disasters, Typhoon Haiyan has hit the poorest and most vulnerable people the hardest.

Oxfam deployed an emergency team and executed a long-term response thanks to overwhelming support from Oxfam supporters.

Syria Crisis

Steph Cousins, Humanitarian Advocacy Lead, will report on how we have supported over 1 million people on the ground in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, and what Oxfam is doing to end the Syria Crisis.

Since the conflict began more than two and a half years ago more than 100,000 Syrians have lost their lives

Oxfam are on the ground in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, giving desperately needed emergency assistance, including  water, sanitation and hygiene programs, as well as direct cash support to vulnerable families to help them afford safe housing and buying basic goods for their families.
