Over the past week there has been a major win in efforts to improve the garment factory safety standards in Bangladesh. More than 30 companies including H&M, Mango, Inditex (owner of the Zara brand), Primark, C&A and Tesco have now agreed to sign the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh.
Unfortunately, Cotton On, Kmart, Target and Big W have not yet signed on.
These companies, who are sourcing from Bangladesh, should immediately join this best practice initiative which includes independent building inspections and the right for workers to refuse dangerous work.
Many Australians have been writing on the Facebook pages of Cotton On, Kmart, Big W and Target calling on them to sign on to this important Accord.
Please sign our petition today and encourage these Australian companies to take this important step to ensure safe workplaces for Bangladesh workers.
