What is NAIDOC week?
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia. It’s not only celebrated in Indigenous communities but by Australians from all walks of life.
The origins for NAIDOC week can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.
Now, we take this opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.
Participate in NAIDOC WEEK
The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Start by finding events in your state or territory, or celebrate your own way.
