Colombia Earthquake Update

Early on Monday 10 August 2026, Colombia was hit by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake which was felt across the central and western parts of the country.

This devastating earthquake has caused hundreds of deaths, more than 3000 injured and widespread destruction.

Oxfam Colombia has existing relationships with partner organisations in Choco and Buenaventura, two areas severely affected by the earthquake, facilitating rapid and effective coordination.

At this stage their primary focus is supporting local-partner organisations to implement programs restoring essential access to basic services including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services and shelter.
