There was no warning when the floodwaters began to swallow Chansamone’s home with her and her children in it.
Chansamone and her husband are both factory workers in Laos. After a sunny day like any other, she and her children had gone to bed while her husband spent the night at work.
Chansamone woke up at midnight to rain and water that was nearly level with the road. By the time she called her husband for help, the water had rushed into the house and washed many of her belongings away.
If Chansamone had the tools, knowledge and resources she needed to predict the floods and prepare for them ahead of time, things could have been different. That’s where you come in.
